January 2010

1/19/2010 -The H Word

Well! That chapter is over! Quite a long one. Hopefully I won't have to involve so many characters in a gigantic moving fight scene for a long time.

As I said earlier, the end of this chapter marks a short hiatus. But wait! NJ Huff of Emergency Exit is going to do a sort of guest strip/ crossover hybrid! That is – she wrote a short crossover arch and is willing to illustrate most of it herself rather than switch off pages like we have in previous crossovers. I will be doing art for a cover and for the first and last page of this mini-crossover on the PD end of things.

You can expect the cover THURSDAY as a bonus update, and the first page of the new chapter Friday. Then, starting Monday the 25th, NJ's pages will go up on Mondays and Fridays like the normal update schedule.

I'm not 100% sure but I think NJ's guest run will last roughly one month. After that I plan on taking the rest of the current school term off of PD. When the crossover ends I will put up more precise dates on PD's return.

1/15/2010 -That One Tar Dude

I am declaring January 15th Visage Day cause hey there he is and holy crap 3 pieces of fan art about him what? You guys like him too much. I should do 5 pages of him kicking puppies and slamming doors in the faces of girl scouts or something. Art by Blue Flame Pyre, Susanne/ Henrik of Dreamedge, and Christy.

Yeah. I basically asked for more of this when I said the words "Visage Day", din't I? Another piece of Visage fan art from Elpieman!

1/08/2010 -Spy Battle

Hey, you guys see those custom ads for Spy Battle there? Pretty badass. A Parallel Dementia reader has even started a PD-themed faction open to all readers. Check it out on the forums!

1/02/2010 -Grandfather and Granddaughter

Two pieces of gift art gotten as free requests from Ketsuo and Acid Tongued. Both are super badass like whoa.

1/01/2010 -Off My Chest. Also Fan Art.

Arg. I'm sorry. I'm going to have to skip today's update. There's not exactly too much going on right now but as I have told many people and said publicly in a few places, my motivation for Parallel Dementia has been running dry. There's various reasons for this and I won't list them here.

Basically, this current chapter has about 5 pages to go until it finally ends. Hopefully skipping this page can give me the will to power through what's left and get there without further delays – and when this chapter ends I can take a break.

By no means to I plan to abandon PD. I've poured way too much into it to do that. Plus, some pretty badass stuff is slated for later chapters. I have a good ending in mind and I want to reach it. But I need this hiatus to do it, I feel. The plot here has always been kinda over explained and wondering – I want to take a break to really refine what's left so that end can be reached conclusively but without too much meandering. I also haven't had a real chance in the 4 years PD's been running to just step back and say “okay, what could I do to improve the style and my work flow.” Finally, not having to worry about it for a few months will be DAMN refreshing.

When the chapter ends in a couple weeks I'll put more info up on the situation of the short hiatus.

Now, all that out of the way, I got some fan art to share with you! My Milk in the Pantry Secret Santa was Cerintha's creator Cope, and PD fan Deniem made a neat Tim.
